STRATEGIC PLANNING AND IMPLEMENTATION

Providing ongoing support to all the moving parts of the change process and helping an institution on its journey to sustained excellence

Jonathan Cannon was a colleague in the sense that we have been school heads in the Washington, DC, area for about a decade. We have collaborated on professional meetings, discussed issues that our respective schools have shared in common, and checked-in with one another when an event, e.g., involving athletics or admissions, bears on the relationship between our schools. He has been a wise and effective partner and colleague in every such encounter, and I know I can count on his taking a balanced and practical view on all things related to school management. I value his opinion highly.

Elliot RabinPROJECT AND CONTENT DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR, PRIZMAH
As a social media manager, I can only speak to Jonathan’s work online–his blogging, his tweeting–but I think he’s done a superb job in cyberspace. There aren’t many people who can transfer a voluminous knowledge of JDS into 140-character mini-missives; JC’s one of them. His blog posts resonate with Jewish wisdom, a secular understanding, and sense of humor–all of which show that he’s been a good and effective Head of School for decades. I also dig the fact that he’s made his articulate wife, the blogger Gilly Cannon, a major part of his online kehillah.

Alanna took a real personalized approach to our project, learning about our school and our needs in order to better determine how she could help take us to the next level. Alanna takes a thoughtful, knowledgeable approach to her work integrating her own experience with current practices in the field. She took the time to talk us through our goals, considering her role in our project and the best timeline to make it work and helping us concretize our thinking. She continues to be an amazing resource to us, and our team really looks forward to our time with her.

Dr. Sarah LevyDIRECTOR OF JEWISH LIFE AND LEARNING K-12, DENVER JEWISH DAY SCHOOL

Alanna provided clear feedback and guidance in various areas of curriculum implementation, teacher training and supervision and evaluation. Her ability to coalesce her knowledge of best practice with our school’s specific needs helped to provide a clear framework for next steps in various initiatives.  She was always readily available to listen and guide. She’s a great listener, and asks questions skillfully. Our conversations always helped me to see situations from many angles before taking next steps. She’s been a wonderful coach and mentor, and I am a better leader because of her.
